S-S-S-Super Saturday!

Saturday, May 21st
9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Please invite friends- the more the merrier!
Lunch will be served. Contact Heather Larson if you would like to help bring food.
Baby-sitting will not be provided but older daughters are welcome to come and participate.
You are also welcome to just come and visit and work on a craft of your own or help with the service project quilts.

Below is the list of crafts we will be doing at our Super Saturday activity.  Most have a blog listing beneath them that will give you more info on the project.  All of the supplies can be found at Joann’s or Michaels and some at Walmart. If you have any questions please call Libby Tweet 619-471-6311 or Heather Larson 619-469-1605.  Thanks!

 Fabulous Apron
 Materials Needed:
·        1 1/4 yard patterned quilting cotton
·        1 yard solid cotton (or fun coordinating fabric)
·        3/4 yard muslin
·        Coordinating thread

 Fabric Toy House
Materials Needed:
·        Fabric for the interior: 9 inches by 21 inches and two pieces 6 inches by 9 inches
·        Fabric for the exterior: (same as interior) 9" x 21" and two pieces 6" x 9"
·        2 10.5"x 13.5" sheets of plastic canvas (I used #10 mesh)
·        Batting / wadding
·        Duct tape / insulation tape (optional)
·        Buttons and elastic cord (I used tiny hairbands) or velcro or 2 zips or some ribbon
·        2 Sewn fabric strips for handles (optional)

Family Home Evening Board
Cost:   $13, which includes: wood board, sheet metal rectangle, magnetic squares, nails, and vinyl lettering.
You need to bring:
·        Can of spray paint in the color of your choice (around $1 at Walmart)
·        Six wooden shapes (Michaels has these - circles, stars, etc.)
·        Six round magnets
Additional Info: 
We will have three different fonts you can choose from.  You will need to sign up in advance so we can get your lettering printed out with your family member’s names.

Knit Washclothes
Materials Needed:
·        Old knit shirts to be cut up and turned into yarn, then knitted into washclothes.
·        Knitting needles
Additional Info:
This is a great opportunity if you want to learn to knit.  You don’t necessarily have to do this knitting project but are welcome to come and just learn how to knit. 
  
Car Lap Tray
(Modge Podge and brushed will be provided)
Materials Needed:
·        Cookie Sheet (cheapest possible, DO NOT buy a non-stick one or it will not work
          (the paint won't stick!) $1 store should have some good choices)
·        Spray Paint (around $1 at Walmart)
·        Cardstock/Scrapbook Paper

Boys Faux Ties
Materials Needed:
·        ¼ yard of fabric
·        Coordinating thread
·        Elastic (Measure the size of the collar and add an inch for sewing together)
·        Measurement for how long you want the tie to be (usually to the top of the belt)
·        Pins, scissors, hand-sewing needle

Reversible Girls Jumper Dress
Materials Needed:
·        for the pattern use a jumper dress in the size you want to make it
·        fabric- enough to cut out a front and a back for both the inside and outside layers of fabric
·        coordinating thread
·        ribbon for the four ties (about 19 inches long each) so 76 inches total
·        pins, scissors

I Spy Picture Book
Materials Needed:
·        A book to put photos in such as a small 4x6 photo album, or you can glue the pictures to pieces of cardboard attached with a ring, etc.
Pre-Saturday Instructions: Look around your house for a variety of items that would work well for an I Spy Picture. Take a picture and email it to Heather Larson at hbabylarson@hotmail.com by Thursday midnight (I am going to have them printed at Costco Friday morning).  Please leave it full resolution (don’t reduce it) so we get the clearest pictures.  I will make 1 copy of each picture for everyone that participates.  So if say 10 people send me photos then at the Super Saturday I will hand you a set with 10 different pictures to put into a book for your kids to search through.  Be creative and have fun!!

Quilt Tying for Humanitarian Center
These will be set up and ready to tie for those willing to help serve!
